Sheepshead Bay Rd. was once a beautiful, busy, and thriving area. In the last six years, it became a symbol of empty storefronts, piles of garbage, abandoned street shelter for homeless people, and economic decline. It suffered badly from the devastating effects of economic recession, SuperStorm Sandy, overdevelopment and neglect.
Local elected officials and community leaders were trying for years to change the situation and to make Sheepshead Bay Road area a vibrant commercial street all over again. Among the area boosters you can count on Democratic District Leader (45 AD) Ari Kagan and Sheepshead Bay resident, attorney Inna Vernikov, member of Bay Democrats club. They created a new Facebook page to promote the unique businesses of Sheepshead Bay Road free of charge. They publish pictures, stories & free advertising to help small businesses along Sheepshead Road.
All ideas are definitely welcomed and any good intentioned effort to help merchants to succeed will be appreciated. If you visited businesses at Sheepshead Bay Road and would like to share your experience, please, let everybody know. Pictures, comments and videos are also welcomed.
This FB page - https://www.facebook.com/saveSheepsBayRd/ - is not partisan or political though it was created by two neighborhood Democrats. They would be happy to join forces with any organization or person of any affiliation. The goal of the FB page is to attract as many visitors as possible to Sheepshead Bay Road and to bring local problems to the attention of relevant city and state agencies.
