District Leader Ari Kagan participated in a great induction ceremony for a first Russian-born elected Civil Court Judge Elena Baron. She was elected by Brooklyn voters in the 6th District that includes diverse neighborhoods of East Flatbush, Crown Heights, Midwood, Kensington, Park Slope.
Elena Baron was born in Rostov-na-Donu and emigrated to the United States in 1993 when she was 15-years-old. She is married to her very supportive husband Dmitry and is raising her two fabulous children Daniel and Asher.
Her election in 2017 became a milestone for the entire Russian speaking community. Prior to her election, Elena worked as Legal Clerk for several Civil Court judges in Brooklyn. Her inauguration ceremony in Brooklyn Borough Hall was a celebration of an amazing achievement by immigrant community.
